Abe Vigoda, the beloved character actor whose career spanned more than forty years, has passed away.
Vigoda's daughter, Carol Vigoda Fuchs, told The Associated Press that Vigoda died in his sleep, of old age, at her home in New Jersey on Tuesday morning.
After becoming a recognizable face and name in The Godfather and on Barney Miller in the '70s, Vigoda would go on to do plenty more -- including appearing in The Godfather Part II, Look Who's Talking, Prancer, Joe Versus the Volcano, and Underworld during his long career.
He also appeared in dozens of TV shows, including a turn on the cast of Dark Shadows.
Vigoda lent his distinctive voice to the animated film Batman: Mask of the Phantasm in 1993, where Vigoda played Salvatore Valestra.
