Tonight's midseason premiere of The Walking Dead was easily the most shocking of the show's sixth season.

Be warned, the video contains spoilers if you have not yet watched the ninth episode of season six, titled No Way Out.

It's hard to believe that the series is so dedicated to following the comic books that it followed through with shooting Carl in the eye. It's a defining moment for the character in the comic book series but it is likely a production nightmare for a team already burdened with creating hundreds and thousands of walkers on a monthly basis.

The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9 PM ET on AMC.
