Deadpool Movie Concept Artist Confirms Helicarrier

For anybody who didn't realize it, or wasn't sure, that burned-out aircraft carrier in Deadpool was, in fact, a Helicarrier. The confirmation comes from a concept artist who worked on the film and who confirmed both that it was a Helicarrier and that the production team on Deadpool had to go out of their way to make it hard to tell.

"[I] was asked to redesign the helicarrier so it looked as different as possible from the one in The Avengers," concept artist Emmanuel Shiu told io9. "And it had to look like it had been taken apart in some places."

So, you can add that to the (long, long) list of Easter eggs in Deadpool...!

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

I suppose it's great that they found a way to make this undistinguishable in a sense, but publically disclosing these details and intentions doesn't make them equally vulnerable to Marvel lawsuits?

  1. I'm sure they have more than enough money if charges were filed

So Deadpool now fits more comfortably in the MCU than the FMU? I like it.

  2. The Really sorry thing was that Having a connection like this between Xmen and Avengers Is a good thing. If Fox would stop beening stupid they would know that if they share then Someone of those Avengers could who up in Xmen movies and Some of the Xmen in Avengers. I mean anyone that knows the comics knows the Beast was an Avengers and so was Logan.  Can already think one good story line where the Avengers go after Magneto and the Brotherhood.

No way they had to disguise the Helicarrier to even include it. MCU sucks IMO and I'm only a fan of X-films because Fox are making them damn good lately. The only downside is Marvel aren't driven to make X-men comics as they don't own the rights.
