Someone at Disney is getting treated to lunch today, as Captain America: Civil War just surpassed another Disney blockbuster in Zootopia.

Civil War brought in another $5.9 million yesterday, which brings its total (domestic) to $306.6 million. It's only been out for 12 days at this point and shows no signs of stopping, with both Iron Man 2 ($312 million) and Iron Man ($318 million) in its sights.

According to Forbes, the film also reaped large rewards worldwide, earning an additional $8.9 million to bring its total international sum to $$665.3 million. All combined the film has hit $971.9 million. Zootopia is currently at $971.036 million, so with continuing momentum it looks like Civil War has surpassed it for good.

While domestically Civil War hasn't yet surpassed some of its other comic book brethren, like Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice ($328 million) and Deadpool ($362 million), it certainly will match or exceed those very soon. It should also beat out Disney's own The Jungle Book, which has brought in $312 million thus far. Compared to other comic films in the past, Civil War's global total has already zipped by most of them, with its only future benchmarks being Avengers ($896 million), Avengers: Age of Ultron ($947 million) and Iron Man 3 ($806 million). Those are lofty goals, but I could see it ending up somewhere in between.

For Disney, this is their third home run this year, with Jungle Book being the third. The studio has another tentpole launching soon in their Tim Burton helmed Alice Through The Looking Glass. If that performs as expected, Disney could have four $400 million + film launches in a row.
