The next entry in FOX's X-Men franchise releases on Friday but a healthy amount of critics have already seen the film, and so far it isn't ranking very well amongst its X-brethren.

The Bryan Singer Directed X-Men: Apocalypse is currently sitting at a 52% rating right now on Rotten Tomatoes. The general audience hasn't seen it yet so that number will fluctuate quite a bit once Thursday screenings start. That said, it isn't the best sign, and if it stays around that number it would be considered a disappointment, especially when compared to X-Men: Days of Future Past, which scored an overall positive reception amongst critics and fans alike.

As for the freshness ratings, it really isn't even close. Apocalypse's 52% makes it the second lowest rated X-Men film to date on the service, with the widely detested Wolverine: Origins film being the only one rated worse, currently at 38%.

Here is how they stack up. The most well-regarded film of the lot is Days of Future Past at 91%. After that it's X-Men: First Class (87%) followed by X2: X-Men United (86%). Rounding out the fresh ratings is the original X-Men at 81%.

Somehow the much-loathed X-Men: The Last Stand is only at a 58%, followed by Apocalypse and the already referenced Origins. Unless Apocalypse has a scene chewing and irrelevant bridge moving scene in the third act, I can't buy it being worse than The Last Stand.

Either way, by the end of the week, fans will get to make up their own minds.
