Melissa Benoist Does Not Want Supergirl & Flash To Have An On-Screen Romance

Reports of a potential small-screen romance between The Flash and Supergirl have been greatly exaggerated.

First of all, because it was the interviewer asking questions who suggested it, not The Flash's Grant Gustin. And second, because Supergirl star Melissa Benoist isn't on board.

While she says that it's "the logical thing to do" to cross over more, Benoist isn't shipping her character with the fastest man alive.

"I don't know if they'd ever get together; I think they're too similar," Benoist told DC All Access in an interview posted above. "I think they're pals, pigging out on ice cream....And donuts. All the donuts."

Supergirl brings its second season to The CW in the fall, which will presumably allow for more and easier crossovers with Arrow, The Flash, and DC's Legends of Tomorrow. While there are very few details available yet for Season Two, the series will start filming again in July, this time in Vancouver along with the other CW series. That should yield some early casting notices and other news around the time of Comic Con International: San Diego.

Supergirl stars Melissa Benoist as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl; Mehcad Brooks as James Olsen; Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant; Jeremy Jordan as Winn Schott; David Harewood as Hank Henshaw/J'Onn J'Onzz; and Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers. A four-part crossover with The Flash, Arrow, and DC's Legends of Tomorrow was confirmed as being in the cards for the upcoming TV season.

The second season should debut in early October. Supergirl will air on Monday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
