Warner Bros. has chosen Rick Famuyiwa to direct The Flash movie, starring Ezra Miller (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice) as The Fastest Man Alive.

"Warner Bros is looking for the right chemical mix on its superhero picture line based on the DC Comics heroes, and the feeling internally was that Famuyiwa provided a vision that would resonate with young viewers and that vision was very compatible with the script that the studio is moving toward the start gate with," reports Deadline. "That vision was executed to strong reviews in Dope, the 2015 film about a young geek trying to survive in a tough Los Angeles neighborhood."

Several days ago, Famuyiwa popped up on everyone's radar as a possible director of an upcoming DC Comics-based film when Chris Begley at BatmanNews noticed Famuyiwa's Twitter account began following Geoff Johns, Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot, Suicide Squad, Zack Snyder, Ben Affleck, Ray Fisher, and Jason Momoa in a short period of time.

Seth Grahame-Smith, the author and screenwriter of Pride & Prejudice & Zombies and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, wrote The Flash movie script, based on a treatment by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (The Lego Movie, 21 Jump Street), and was originally set to make his directorial debut with The Flash, but he left the project near the end of April due to creative differences with the studio. It is believed that Grahame-Smith's script will still be used by Famuyiwa.

Famuyiwa's other film credits include The Wood (1999), Brown Sugar (2002), and Talk to Me (2007).

The Flash movie is scheduled for released on March 16, 2018.
