NetherRealm Studios recently showed off the first official trailer for their upcoming sequel Injustice Gods Among Us 2, and the studio is debuting the first gameplay from the game later today.

In the meantime, we have a closer look at Superman and Aquaman's new looks for the game, courtesy of Twitter user @Aero_quinno, who spotted the two characters in Injustice's mobile version. The mobile title has continuously received updates over the last few years, so it makes sense it would receive an update after the official announcement.

Aero's tweet read: "#Injustice2 Superman & Aquaman costume as shown in the Reveal Trailer"

Superman's look has received some updates, mostly in the lines of his armor and extra headgear that makes him look closer to the Eradicator. I do like the red gloves, and the black and red symbol is a better fit for the character.

As for Aquaman, well, there's a part of me that hopes this isn't real. The armor is fine actually, that's not my concern. It differs from the more regal looking gear he had in the first game, which is fine really. My issue is more with his face. The Aquaman on display here looks more like someone you'd find at a fraternity barbeque rather than someone who happens to be the ruler of Atlantis.

Later when Aero was asked if the images were real, another tweet followed with the characters rotated.

The first gameplay footage from the game is set to debut at ESL's Mortal Kombat X Pro League Season 3 Finals, which begins this morning, but the gameplay will debut before the Fatal 8, which will be around 5pm PDT.
