After the "Battle of Bastards" episode of Game of Thrones concluded, HBO released a pair of behind-the-scenes videos in which the showrunners discuss some of the major events, including Daenerys Stormborn defeating her enemies in Mereen, the Jon Snow-Ramsay Bolton battle, and Sansa Stark feeding Ramsay to his hungry-hungry hounds.

On Ramsay's death:

"The show doesn't always give people the things that are going to make happy, but this felt like a moment where it made narrative sense that they would win this fight and Ramsay would come into their possession as a prisone," says executive producer and writer D.B. Weiss. "His dogs were such a thing for him, in this season and in season past. Such an extension of his own horrible urges, and the idea that they would be turned against him and it would happen at Sansa's hands made a lot of sense to us. This isn't the little girl who wanted to dress up like a princess anymore. Her walkaway at the end of the scene, that's one of my favorite shots we've ever had. Just the little ghost of a smile on her face. She in Winterfell, but she's not the person she was when she first left."

Inspiration for the battle:

"We went back to the Roman fight against the Carthaginians in the Battle of Cannae, where the Romans got caught in an encirclement by Hannibal and just slaughtered to the man," Weiss explained. "We used that as sort of our model."

Game of Thrones, "The Winds Of Winter," airs Sunday, June 26 at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
