Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Director Reveals If Han Solo Will Appear In The Film

#RogueOne rumor control! Will #HanSolo appear? Director Gareth Edwards answers! #StarWars #SWCE [...]

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story delighted fans when it debuted its newest trailer, which finally debuted footage of Darth Vader.

He was rumored for quite some time, and seeing him on screen again is something fans have wanted for awhile. Vader wasn't the only classic character rumored to make an appearance in Rogue One, though, as recent reports hinted at Han Solo (recently official cast with Alden Ehrenreich in the roll) popping up at some point in the film

If you were hopeful to see Han, you're probably going to be disappointed with Gareth Edwards recent comments. He was speaking to Extra when he broke the news.

"I'm not sure I'm allowed to do this but I think I should. I can put to bed, Han Solo is not in the movie."

While that will undoubtedly disappoint some fans, with Vader in the mix, you don't really need Han. Speaking of Vader, Edwards recently discussed how he came up with the reveal shot seen in the trailer. Turns out it was a complete accident.

"That was born out of all the experimenting we were talking about. You don't go, 'I want this, this is the shot I want.' They built the whole set, they had a reflection, Vader went in there and we're looking at the reflection going, 'That's fucking cool!'" Edwards said with a laugh. "So as we're filming, we're like, go down, go down, and just playing around, and things happen that you wouldn't have asked for. That was a great example of it. I would've never picked that shot, but then it's in front of you and you get excited about something, and he's such an iconic – he's the most iconic character in all of cinema, potentially. To hear everyone cheer when they saw his silhouette, you feel like, 'that is worth everything."

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story releases on December 16th.
