A Sherlock Reunion In A Marvel Film Is Very Possible Says Cumberbatch

Benedict Cumberbatch will take on the mantle of Marvel's sorcerer supreme Doctor Strange this November, but it wasn't too long ago that a close friend of his also made the jump to Marvel's Cinematic Universe.

That friend is Sherlock Co-Star Martin Freeman, who made his debut in Captain America: Civil War as Everett Ross. Ross is a member of the Joint Counter-Terrorist Center and is at odds with both Steve Rodgers and Zemo in the film.

Freeman Strange

Freeman also plays Watson alongside Cumberbatch's Sherlock Holmes, so when ComicBook.com's James Viscardi caught up to Cumberbatch at San Diego Comic-Con, he had to ask if the two will eventually meet in the films.

"Oh, that's a good question. I don't know that could be possible I guess. I mean you know, the Venn diagram of the Marvel Universe brings people together from all sorts of places. Who knows, who knows...I don't, so that's my get out is ignorance."

Doctor Strange will focus on bringing the yet to be explored arena of Magic into the Marvel Universe, so it stands to reason that the character might play a significant role in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War since the Infinity Stones are mystical in nature.

Freeman will most likely next be seen in the upcoming Chadwick Boseman starring Black Panther, but with his agency picking up the slack after S.H.I.E.L.D's demise, I would also bet on the organization having some involvement with Infinity War.

For the Sherlock fans, I imagine even a small tip of the cap would be appreciated.

Doctor Strange marches into theatres on November 4th.
