Kevin Smith is getting another crack at the CW-DC TV universe as he returns to direct another episode of The Flash and an episode of Supergirl. The announcement came at a panel at TCA 2016 for The CW, which was chock-full of news.

The writer-director-fanboy directed a critically-acclaimed and fan-loved episode of The Flash last year, taking Barry Allen into the Speed Force and on an emotional journey. He's expressed his interest in returning to the show, and to direct sister-series Supergirl multiple times since, and it's now confirmed that he got his wish. His exact episode of each wasn't ready to be announced yet.

For the rest of the seasons across all four DC-CW shows, the assembled producers and showrunners said they're keeping diversity in mind with all their hirings. Arrow EP Marc Guggenheim said 50% of the Arrow season five directors are "diverse" (meaning non-white males), and Andrew Kreisberg added, "it's been important for everyone here to increase diversity, both in front of and behind the camera." They've offered over 20 women directing jobs on the shows.

While Smith doesn't fall into that category, his love of DC Comics characters and the high quality of his first effort in this world last year should make fans excited that he's returning for more.
