Kevin Smith Reveals Title Of His Supergirl Episode

On Thursday, at the Television Critics Association's press tour, The CW announced that filmmaker and geek icon Kevin Smith will direct an episode of Supergirl this season. Later in the same day, Smith posted a new "Fat Man on Batman" video (recorded before the TCA) in which he proclaimed his love for Supergirl and all things DC, CW and Berlantiverse DCW, as well as revealed the title of his Supergirl episode.

"Andrew Kreisberg told me that the name of the episode is 'Supergirl Lives,'" Smith shared. "I'm gonna cry talking about this. The name of the script I wrote back in 1996 was called 'Superman Lives.'"

As most of you know, before Tim Burton was brought in to helm the unmade Superman Lives, hairdresser-turned-film producer, Jon Peters, was overseeing the Superman reboot and brought in relative newcomer Kevin Smith (Clerks) to pen the script. Before Smith even put pen to paper, Peters made some unusual demands like having Superman fight a giant spider-like creature he dubbed "Thanagarian Snare Beast."

Now, in Season Two, Kara (Melissa Benoist) has left the safety of being Cat Grant's (Calista Flockhart) assistant in order to figure out what she really wants to do, while as Supergirl she continues to work at the DEO., protecting the citizens of National City and searching for Jeremiah (Dean Cain) and Cadmus. Along the way, she will team up with Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) to battle new villains, as she strives to balance her personal life with her life as a superhero.

The cast also includes Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers, Helen Slater as Eliza Danvers, Mehcad Brooks as James Olsen, Jeremy L. Jordan as Winslow "Winn" Schott, and David Harewood as J'onn J'onzz, the Martian Manhunter.

International Television Distribution, SUPERGIRL is executive produced by Greg Berlanti ("Arrow," "The Flash"), Ali Adler ("The New Normal"), Andrew Kreisberg ("The Flash," "Arrow") and Sarah Schechter ("Blindspot," "The Mysteries of Laura"). Supergirl is based on the characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster and appearing in DC Comics, by special arrangement with the Jerry Siegel Family.

Supergirl season two kicks off the first week of October at 8pm on Monday on The CW.
