When Kylo Ren stabbed his lightsaber through Han Solo's chest, it broke audiences hearts in cinemas around the world. That paled in comparison to a real life injury that left actor Harrison Ford in the hospital, and it wasn't thanks to a lightsaber, but rather a crashing door.

Back in 2014, Ford was filming a scene for Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens at Pinewood Studios when a hydraulic door on the set came down on his left leg. It ended up breaking it and required the 71-year-old actor to undergo surgery and rehab.

Foodles Production Ltd, who was in charge of production during the incident, has been fined around $2 million (via CNN). The company was cited for two health and safety breaches that might have prevented the injury. To put it into perspective, a Health and Safety executive said in court that the impact was like being hit with the weight of a small car.

Along with the judgment of $2 million, Judge Francis Sheridan added: "The greatest failing of all on behalf of the company is a lack of communication. If only they had included Mr. Ford in all the discussions, he might have at least been alert to the dangers that he had to avoid."

Ford has kept a rather lighthearted approach to the whole incident, and has joked about it in panels alongside director J.J. Abrams.
