Lucasfilm and Disney are in negotiations with Thandie Newton for a role in Han Solo: A Star Wars Story., according to Variety. The site added, "Newton's character is unknown."
The 44-year-old British actress is best known for playing beautiful, razor-sharp madam Maeve Millay in HBO's Westworld, as well as her film roles in The Pursuit of Happyness and Mission: Impossible II.
Who might she be playing? She could be Sana Starros, although she seems a bit too old for that part--if it's in the film. Sana was introduced in the Marvel comic book series and intially presented as Han Solo's wife, but it was later revealed that the two only posed as a married couple for a previous scam.
Han Solo: A Star Wars Story is filming now under directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller (21 Jump Street, The LEGO Movie). Alden Ehrenreich (Hail, Caesar!) stars as a young Han Solo in the era before Star Wars: A New Hope, before he met Leia and Luke and embarked on a galaxy-saving adventure. Donald Glover (The Martian) also stars as Lando Calrissian, with Woody Harrelson (Zombieland) and Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) in as-yet-unrevealed co-starring roles.
Han Solo: A Star Wars Story will land in theaters on May 25, 2018.
