UPDATE: The HD version of the trailer is above!

We've been waiting for the first footage of the new Zombies mode in Call of Duty: WWII, which has been getting star reveals all week long, as well as haunting images that show just how serious the developers at Sledgehammer Games are about the mode. And, surprise, the trailer is now here.

Activision premiered the trailer on its Twitter account just moments ago, and in it, you get an idea of just how messy things are going to become. In it, we hear some kind of doctor narrating about the creation of these nasty creatures, explaining how he wasn't just creating a new king of creature, but pretty much "the devil himself".

It sounds like the voice is none other than Doctor Peter Glucksbringer, portrayed by Udo Kier in the game. He definitely sounds like he's going to throw a lot at the players within the trailer, including a few particularly built zombies that look like they're going to take an awful lot of ammunition to bring down. Of course, that's the point – it wouldn't be a Call of Duty Zombies mode unless it posed some kind of challenge.

But let's talk about the ambience for a second. Where most Zombies modes have been something where you can see the creatures from like a mile away, this is a mode that looks to be built on pure tension, as you work your way through dark surroundings and realize that these suckers can pop up from anywhere. Of course, Sledgehammer Games knows a thing or two about building that tension – a lot of their team members worked on the brilliant Dead Space games.

Anyway, we'll provide you a more high quality version of the Call of Duty: WWII Zombies trailer as soon as it becomes available. For the time being, check out the version above and prepare to have the crap scared out of you. This looks to be the most effective Zombies mode yet.

Call of Duty: WWII releases on November 3rd for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
