One-Punch Man Illustrator Shares Before & After Artwork Of Saitama

In the world of manga, there are plenty of respected names, and Yusuke Murata is one of them. The talented artist is the man behind the manga remake of One-Punch Man, and Murata has helped usher the franchise into a world of popularity. However, his work does not come as easily as some fans may think. Not long ago, the artist took to Twitter to give his readers a look into his work habits, and it gives fans a glimpse at an untouched Saitama.

Uh, yikes?

Posting on Twitter, Murata shared several images he drew for the latest chapters of One-Punch Man. So, over on Imgur, a fan went and put the before pictures beside the manga's final panels for comparison. In the images, fans can see that Saitama is given a more rounded and dull expression than his first. In fact, all of Murata's after images seem to feature more expressive facial features and zoomed-in perspectives. Even panels depicting fight sequences are brought in close to make readers feel closer to the action.

If you're not familiar with One-Punch Man, then it is time you did so. Created in 2009, the series began as a webcomic created by an author using the pseudyonym One.

One-Punch Man follows a hero named Saitama in a disaster-prone world. The character is known as the strongest superhero of Z-City since he can easily defeat anyone - or anything - with a single punch. However, Saitama misses the thrill of battle and becomes desperate to find a villain who can actually challenge him. One-Punch Man follows Saitama and his fellow heroes as they take on horrifying monsters, struggle to save the world, and gain recognition for their heroic efforts.

Fans flocked to the comic, so Japan's Shueisha remade the series alongside One and illustrator Yusuke Murata. The remake debuted in 2012, and Madhouse used the manga as the basis for their One-Punch Man anime. The show, which debuted in 2015, was praised by fans and critics who enjoyed the show's all-out action and parodic humor. The anime's popularity has helped One-Punch Man thrive over the past few years as its manga houses more than 65 chapters. Its U.S. debut put One-Punch Man on the New York Times Best-Sellers list, and it has even been nominated for an Eisner Award.
