Ezra Miller is living the dream of every fanboy these days. The actor is currently busy promoting Justice League as he was tasked with the Flash to life, but Barry Allen isn’t the only comic hero Miller loves. The actor is an outspoken fan of anime, and Miller hopes the world is as excited to see the live-action Fullmetal Alchemist film as he is.
This week, Miller headed to Japan with co-star Ray Fisher to promote Justice League in Tokyo. The film just had its Japanese premiere at Roppongi Arena, and it was there Miller opened up about his otaku roots.
When the actor was asked about his favorite anime, Miller gave the crowd a surprise by naming Hayao Miyazaki’s Princess Mononoke. The star then went on to say he is very excited to see Japan’s live-action take on Fullmetal Alchemist.
“How excited are you guys for the Fullmetal Alchemist movie that I just learned [is] coming out,” Miller asked.
“I am extremely excited. I’d like to share in that feeling with you all. I’m allowed to say that because it is Warner Bros.”
In the past, Miller showed off how much he loves Hiromu Arakawa and her shonen series at San Diego Comic Con. The actor showed up to the massive convention this summer to promote Justice League for Warner Bros. Miller greeted fans at a massive Hall H panel wearing a full Edward Elric cosplay, and anime fans were happy to welcome Miller to the fandom.
If you are not familiar with Fullmetal Alchemist's live-action film, then you should know it is coming out soon. The project, which is directed by Fumihiko Sori, is the first live-action take on the shonen title since its creation. The film follows the very first arcs of Fullmetal Alchemist as Edward and Alphonse Elric learn about the Philosopher's Stone. The brothers then connect with their nation's State Alchemists to find the coveted item, but Edward learns there is more to the stone when a group of villains known as the Homunculi make themselves known. Fullmetal Alchemist is slated to debut in Japan this December with plans to screen in the U.S. afterwards.
