Who watches The Nightwatchman? On May 1, it'll be the New York Police Department. Tom Morello, writer of Dark Horse Comics' Orchid and the frontman for Rage Against The Machine and The Nightwatchman, tweeted yesterday that he will join the "Guitarmy," a march of guitar players playing songs of protest and social justice, in New York City on May Day as part of Occupy Wall Street's "Million Guitar March." Pressed for details on the event, Morello elaborated, "It's simple: u get to NYC bring ur guitar,25k Martin or plastic Toys R Us model. We strum/sing/revolt," in another tweet. The Los Angeles-based Morello has been active in the Occupy movement for some time, and recently contributed to Wrecking Ball, Bruce Springsteen's heavily political album. Each issue of Orchid comes with a digital download code for a free Nightwatchman song which comprises a "soundtrack" to the issue in question. Orchid #7 hits stores on May 23. The series' sixth issue hit stands last week and the first trade paperback, collecting #1-6, hits the shelves on July 24.
