The Wolverine Jean Grey

In this week's first trailer for The Wolverine, there is a brief flash of Famke Janssen as Jean Grey. Because the image of Jean Grey is sort of intentionally fuzzy, many fans have speculated that maybe she just appears briefly in a flashback. In an interview with MTV, Hugh Jackman offered a little more insight into the role that Jean Grey will play in The Wolverine. Hugh Jackman said, "There's no doubt that the most important relationship in his life is — we've seen through the movies — is his relationship with Jean Grey. Yes, we saw her die at the end of 'X-Men: The Last Stand,' but in this movie, she has a presence, which I think is vital to the movie, particularly for him confronting the most difficult thing within himself." It's interesting that Hugh Jackman uses the word "presence" to describe Jean Grey, which would seem to suggest that she's not actually back from the dead, but she just plays a part in Logan's memories. However, the fact that Jackman says she is Logan's most important relationship seems to indicate that Famke Janssen will have more than a passing cameo. Could Logan be haunted by visions of Jean Grey throughout the movie? In the video interview below, Hugh Jackman also talks about Viper calling her a "badass" and about the bullet train sequence calling it "insane." The Wolverine is set to be released in movie theaters in the United States on July 26, 2013.
