Whedon: Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers 2 "Won't Be Swapping Stars"

On the red carpet at a special screening of Much Ado About Nothing yesterday, Marvel's The Avengers director Joss Whedon spoke briefly with Bleeding Cool about the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe--among other things, intimating that the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy films won't be interchangeably swapping characters. "We're following Guardians at Shepperton [with Avengers 2] but we won't be swapping cast members," Whedon is quoted as saying. "Every movie is its own thing and has to be. Unless I take a lot of peyote and write a very different draft… and I'm not ruling that out." That'll be a shock to the system for those still holding out for an Iron Man cameo in Guardians, no doubt, and also begs the question: What about Thanos?
