As part of doing the press rounds for Dark Horse Comics adaptation R.I.P.D. over the next week or two, fans can probably expect Ryan Reynolds to be answering a handful of Deadpool questions. While the last we heard the film was all but dead, a second Wolverine solo film coming later this month coupled with a newly-released video game for Deadpool make for kind of a perfect storm of "Hey, whatever happened to that...?" questions. The long-planned solo film featuring the Merc With a Mouth gets more and more--then less and less--likely all the time depending who's talking. It sounds like that isn't just fans, but that Reynolds himself feels like he can't be sure what's going on with the film. Still, he gave what amounted to a small update to Total Film, along with a bit about how the character will be played if the movie ever goes forward. "That movie is alive and kicking, and then it's dead as a doornail. Then it's alive and kicking and then it's dead," Reynolds said. "It's like the worst relationship I've ever had! The character knows he's a comic book character, he knows he's in a film, he knows who the executives are at the studio making the movie. In the current iteration of the script, Deadpool is aware of the Wolverine movie. He doesn't say anything disparaging about it but he does at one point play with the Deadpool action figure with some curiosity." What do you think? Would you like a version of the film where Deadpool is genre-savvy, or do you think that what works in the comics won't necessarily translate for the screen?
