Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

will no longer be released in August and has instead been moved back to "November or December" to accommodate reshoots," according to a report at Geeks of Doom. Their information is thin, but here's the gist of it:

According to a source connected with production, the film is being pushed back in order to complete necessary reshoots. The source claims that roughly one-third of the film is being completely reshot and that producer Michael Bay is personally overseeing work on the film – which has taken away valuable time from his work on Transformers: Age of Extinction post-production.

That shows a remarkable level of commitment to and interest in the project if true, considering how much the Transformers franchise is worth to Paramount and to Bay personally. Putting a major, tentpole release like that on hold in order to help alleviate pressures on another tentpole that's floundering...well, it's hard to guess how, exactly, Bay's and the studio's mind would be working on that one, but one presumes that if that's true, it's becuase director Jonathan Liebesman is busy on his next project, left this one angry, or both. The film was already delayed once when the script had to be reworked. A recently-released trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was fairly well-received and helped to smooth over some of the concern that the fan community had about the movie. A delay coming at this moment could have the side effect of undoing some of that goodwill. Nothing official from the studio yet and most media outlets haven't yet picked up the story, so it could still turn out to be just a rumor.
