According to the official Warner Bros. press release announcing that Callan Mulvey had joined the cast of Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Mulvey will be playing a character newly created for the film. However, TMZ has a different idea about who Callan Mulvey is playing.
TMZ has a conspiracy theory that Mulvey is actually playing The Joker. Their theory is based on the fact that there is no character listed by Mulvey's name on IMDB, that Mulvey has menacing scars, and the Mulvey is Australian. No, The Joker was not Australian, but TMZ suspects he could have been cast as a homage to the late Heath Ledger, who played The Joker in The Dark Knight.
In order to back up their theory, TMZ ambushed Mulvey in a parking lot, and they peppered him with questions about Batman Vs. Superman. When TMZ directly asked Mulvey if he would be playing The Joker, Mulvey said, "I can't say anything, man." Mulvey also added, "I'm sworn to secrecy. You're going to have to wait and see."
While Mulvey's answer wasn't exactly a confirmation that he's playing The Joker, it is interesting that he didn't just follow the press release and say that he's playing a new character created for the film. It's almost as if he has something to hide. Could TMZ be on to something?
