We asked this, kind of ona whim, at the end of a previous article, but has Zack Snyder given us our first look at a post-Christopher Nolan film take on Gotham City in the latest teaser image for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice?

While Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy won't "count" in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, it's impossible to deny the influence that Nolan's films have had on the Man of Steel universe.

It's hard to ignore, then, that Snyder's first look at Superman in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice features a look that would have been right at home during the promotional campaign for Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises.

You remember all the rainy posters? Not just the ones above, but the one where Bane was walking away from Batman's shattered mask was rainy, too. All the print ads for Nolan's third Batman film felt like something out of Sin City. And now here we go with Superman, too.

Of course, it's a fairly superficial thing, but considering we haven't yet seen a peek at Gotham City in the new DC Cinematic Universe, it made us wonder: with an image taken at night, what looks to be old buildings and lots of air pollution...is that backdrop really a "city of tomorrow," or is Superman standing in Gotham City in this new image?

Snyder's signature filmmaking style is fairly dark and so Metropolis wasn't exactly bathed in sunlight for most of Man of Steel, but it's worth noting that in promotional material, Metropolis is usually depicted during the day, and Gotham at night...
