Among the characters being introduced to the big screen for the first time in Suicide Squad is Katana, as portrayed by Karen Fukuhara.

Prior to Warner Brothers' The Big Picture presentation at CinemaCon in Las Vegas earleir this month, ComicBook.com has the chance to catch up with Fukuhara to hear all about her perspective of Katana since very little has been revealed by the trailers so far.

"She's very loyal to Amanda Waller and Rick Flag," Fukuhara says of Katana. "She works under them and keeps a rowdy bunch in line. She's a protector and a fierce warrior."

As for her powers, Fukuhara is very excited for people to meet the Soul Taker. "She has her husband's soul in her sword and I got to talk to Maseo throughout the film and yes, of course that's the in the film, but you'll have to wait and see how much of the plays into the movie."

"I was really lucky because I blessed with a really great stunt double and stunt coordinator and they taught me all of the choreography during pre-production," the actress explained. "I was able to do all of my own stunts except for one dive role, but all of my stunts. So, yeah, I got to run on top of a car, I did all of my sword work... It really made a difference when I knew everything from muscle memory and I didn't have to think about it when the cameras were rolling."

Of course, the hottest topic of Suicide Squad came up and Fukuhara only had high praises for Jared Leto's portrayal of The Joker. We already knew he went full-Joker mode and sent bizarre gifts to his fellow cast members but Fukuhara claims she had never even met Leto, but only Mr. J. "I've seen him on set, I've met him, I've introduced myself, but everything has been like, 'Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. Hi, pretty,'" Fukuhara says. "I'd be like, 'Hi, I'm Karen,' and he'd be like, 'Haaaa.'"

Suicide Squad hits theaters August 5.
