DC's Legends of Tomorrow: Compromised Live Recap [SPOILERS]

The episode opens on Damien Darhk, in a very Miami Vice-inspired drug deal in the '80s. For the drugs, he's insisted on a relic -- some kind of axe -- instead of cash. It goes bad when the DEO shows up, but they're quickly dispatched by the Reverse-Flash.

It's been decades since Thawne and Darhk have worked together, but now Thawne wants another shot. And while Darhk is reluctant, Thawne promises him "real power."

Next, we see the team working on various side projects:

Jax tries (and fails) to convince Stein and Sara about the merits of tweaking time in little ways, like they did with Einstein and then again during the Civil War. The others say that's not what Rip entrusted them to do.

Heat Wave is letting Ray Palmer take the cold gun for a spin while trying to teach him how to "be cool."

Vixen visits with Citizen Steel, who is trying to set up a "time seismograph" to detect abberations before they happen.

It works, and drives them to 1987 -- where the team converge on the White House.

Unfortunately for them, both the younger Martin Stein and Damien Darhk are working with the President, making infiltration tricky...especially when Sara loses it and tries to kill Darhk, leading to an explosive confrontation with the Secret Service.

Meanwhile, Amaya and Steel -- who had failed in an attempt at a real conversation on board the Waverider -- search a JSA training facility find themselves face to face with Obsidian -- forty-five years older and wondering why Vixen left the JSA in the '40s.

Back at the Waverider, the team continues to argue about whose fault the mess at the White House was. They figure out that Darhk being there likely means that their time-traveling nemesis is involved, so they have to tell Amaya.

Obsidian explains to Amaya and Nate that the JSA died on a mission in Leipzig in 1956 — one which he'd been left out of because the government didn't believe he could be trusted.

Amaya promises to fix history and save the Society when it's all done.

Back at the Waverider, the team looks into Darhk's involvement with the Reagan Administration, learning that he has a clandestine meeting tonight. Sara sends Rory and Ray to check on him.

During the resulting stakeout, Rory and Ray can't find a chemistry that works for them. Rory is upset that Ray is trying to be so much like Cold, and it's bringing up emotions about his dead friend.

A man comes to meet with Darhk — it's a member of the Soviet delegation, and the pair have plans to "deliver a package" for the KGB at a state dinner.

Young Stein is walking through the park — he apparently skipped a birthday dinner with Clarissa to be there and meet Darhk. He has a pitch he wants Darhk to get in front of President Reagan, but when he realizes that Darhk is meeting with a Soviet agent, Darhk stabs him. The older Martin collapses on board the Waverider as well. Darhk leaves, and Ray and Rory go try to rescue young Stein.

In the Medbay, both Steins are there, but Gideon is only treating the younger one, so that both will recover. The pair argue, with the older Stein chastising his younger self for being insensitive to Clarissa.

Steel and Amaya figure out that they will need Obsidian's help to deal with Darhk at the state dinner. They go to him for help, but he's reluctant, saying that Amaya's romantic entanglement with Rex Tyler in the '40s was unprofessional and compromised her objectivity.

In the Medbay, Stein and Ray talk about struggling with their own identities, now that Ray's suit is gone and Stein is so frustrated with his younger self. At the end of the conversation, Sara shows up to take the elder Stein and the rest of the team to the state dinner.

They arrive, where Obsidian meets them, and almost immediately approached by Clarissa, who wonders where Martin is. She's not too worried, since it's so common for him to lose track of time.

Martin asks her to dance, and uses the time to try and assuage her frustrations with his younger self. When Darhk arrives, the team takes positions.

In the basement of the state dinner, Darhk is selling launch codes to the soviets in exchange for another artifact — this one unseen, but in a ring box. Obsidian, Amaya, Steel, Sara, and Firestorm put a stop to the Russians but Darhk makes an escape. Firestorm heads upstairs to save Clarissa, Reagan, and Gorbachev from a bomb Darhk planted as a distraction.

Ray manages to find the bomb and empty the ballroom while Sara fights a Russian man-mountain in the basement. After initial reservations, Rory convinces him that he'll be able to save the day. He has to dismantle the cold gun to take the bomb out. Rory tells him to go ahead.

In the basement, Darhk shoots Obsidian, who steps in front of a bullet to save Vixen. Sara squares off with Darhk, telling him that she is sparing him to prolong his suffering. She tells him what happens to him at the end of Arrow season 4, which clearly shakes him, but she can't enjoy it for long because Thawne arrives and speeds him away.

Before Thawne arrived, though, Sara managed to steal the relic from Darhk.

On the Waverider, the two Martins argue briefly, before the elder one finally convinces the younger to do better by Clarissa.

In the Medbay, Obsidian recovers from being shot, but decides to go back to his boyfriend in 1987 rather than fight alongside the Legends. After he leaves, Amaya finally gives Nate some insight into his grandfather's personality.

Elsewhere, Darhk tells Thawne that he's desperate to change his future and will now join him. Thawne reveals a time sphere, and the two take off together.
