Sometimes even a Superman needs a little help from his friends -- and it seems the Man of Steel will turn to Batman and Wonder Woman in the aftermath of what he learns in "Superman Reborn."
DC Comics has provided ComicBook.com with an exclusive first look at the cover and solicitation text for Trinity #8, due in stores in April, in which Superman will come clean to his friends about the dangers facing the post-Flashpoint DC Universe...including, it seems, Mr. Oz.
Introduced during Geoff Johns and John Romita, Jr.'s run on Superman during The New 52, Mr. Oz is a mysterious figure who alternately seems benevolent or malevolent depending on the appearance. He claimed to have known something about the origins of the New 52 Superman, and then came to the current Superman following his counterpart's death and warned him that (Superman) isn't what he believes himself to be, and neither was the dead Superman.
That was during DC Universe: Rebirth, the same issue that revealed Doctor Manhattan and Ozymandias from Watchmen would be making a transition to the mainstream DC Universe, and that (combined with a number of other clues) led most fans to believe him to be Ozymandias. If that's the case, it looks like March's "Superman Reborn" and its aftermath issues in February should go a long way toward confirming the suspicions.
Taken in tandem with April's Superman and Action Comics solicitations and the recent news of a Watchmen-centric crossover between Batman and The Flash, it seems things are starting to heat up for what had been a slow-burn mystery since DC Universe: Rebirth.
The issue also sees Cullen Bunn come on board as writer, with art by Emanuela Lupacchino and Ray McCarthy. Bunn will fill in for two issues before series writer/artist Francis Manapul returns.
You can check out the official solicitation below, and the full cover in the attached image gallery.
