We’re back in full frenzy mode over The Witcher franchise, especially with the news that we’ll soon be getting a Netflix series. But we dare not forget about what’s happening with its latest spin-off game, Gwent: The Witcher Card Game, as it’s about to see a serious boost in online business.
CD Projekt Red, the developer behind the Witcher franchise, has announced that a public beta for Gwent will be launching on May 24th, and will be available across the board for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Players will be able to download the beta and test out the game to their heart’s content, developing new tactics and eventually getting a hang of certain strategies to beat their friends.
“Public Beta is the next step in the game’s development process, one that we’d be honored to continue alongside everyone who’s been with us thus far,” said Benjamin Lee, Development Director at CD PROJEKT RED. “It’s also a chance for many new gamers to play Gwent for the first time and we’re looking forward to making the game even better with their help,”
The team will host a special live broadcast on its Twitch channel at 10 PM EDT to provide a rundown of how the public beta will run, and what players will be able to access.
Those that take part in the beta will be able to get fresh card collections and player progress, as stats will be reset to ensure fairness in the public beta. However, those that took part in the previous Closed Beta won’t be left completely out in the cold, as they’ll be rewarded with Card Kegs, along with other in-game rewards. More details on that can be found here.
A time frame regarding how long the beta will last hasn’t been provided yet, but those in the Closed Beta should keep in mind that servers will be down starting May 22nd, so that the transition from one beta to another can take place. So get your playtime in now, and prepare for the onslaught of other players. More information on the length of the beta, as well as any additional notes, will be provided at a later time.
