It's been a while since we've seen anything from the co-directors of Firewatch, the impressive indie game from Campo Santo that did a compelling job with its storytelling as you kept watch over the countryside. But they've finally let us in on what they're doing next – and it involves Rick and Morty!

Sean Vanaman announced today that, alongside collaborator and co-director Olly Moss, the two are hard at work on issue 29 of the Rick and Morty comic book, which will make its debut this August. The cover art for the comic book is below, and it looks pretty compelling, featuring Rick at the helm of a flying vehicle while a not-quite-there Morty sits next to him, in somewhat invisible form.

Vanaman made the announcement on his Twitter page, noting, "my boy @ollymoss and I worked on a comic that you can read in august!" The comic also features interior art by C.J. Cannon.

Other details about the comic aren't known just yet, but it is good to see Vanaman and Moss taking their talents to more familiar brands, adding their own distinctive touches to them – especially Rick and Morty, which is one of the hotter ones on the market right now.

It's unknown what the duo will be working on following the release of this comic book issue in August, but we'll certainly be keeping an eye out.

Rick and Morty is a franchise that's certainly been keeping busy this year. Along with the release of the Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality game from Adult Swim Games earlier this year, fans were also treated to the first episode of the long-awaited third season on April Fools Day, setting the tone for the rest of the episodes, which are set to premiere on Adult Swim sometime later this summer.

It sure seems like the summer's going to be an ideal season for the duo, both across comics and TV programming. Now the only question is what's next. A new video game? More crazy comic tales? It's Rick and Morty, so who knows?

Oh, and if you want to check out Firewatch, it's available now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
