If you've ever been in an Overwatch match playing on an Assault or an Escort map and wondering which side has the upper hand, you may have found yourself arguing with either a friend or a random teammate about which side of the battle statistically has the better shot at winning. Next time one of those arguments come up, you can now back up your stance with some winrates and statistics that have recently been revealed by Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan.

As it turns out, there aren't any maps that are drastically one-sided in terms of winrates as most of them come pretty close in terms of statistics. You can find the full list of data that Kaplan revealed below:

  • Hanamura: Attack 49.79% / Defense 50.21%
  • Horizon: Attack 54.50% / Defense 45.50%
  • Temple of Anubis: Attack 49.92% / Defense 50.08%
  • Volskaya: Attack 49.76% / Defense 50.24%
  • Eichenwalde: Attack 46.13% / Defense 53.87%
  • Hollywood: Attack 49.91% / Defense 50.09%
  • King's Row: Attack 50.14% / Defense 49.86%
  • Numbani: Attack 49.40% / Defense 50.60%
  • Dorado: Attack 49.66% / Defense 50.34%
  • Route 66: Attack: 49.94% / Defense 50.06%
  • Watchpoint Gibraltar: Attack 50.13% / Defense 49.87%

Kaplan also disclosed that the data that was being provided was just for Quick Play matches and the stats here range for the past two months starting on May 14 and ending on July 12, but the most recent data is, of course, what matters most when waging arguments about whether or not certain maps are worth trying on.

The notion of not trying on certain maps is exactly what prompted the qustion that Kaplan quickly answered. A user anecdotally pointed out that many players leave the game when certain maps are up next because they feel they've got little chance at Attacking or Defending on certain maps, but according to the data, it's probably best to stick around and give it a shot anyway.

For those players who wish to disregard such data and still leave their games without concern for the rest of their team, you might want to think twice about the habit in upcoming games. In addition to revealing the data here, there were also plans disclosed previously to update the punishment system soon. No details were given at the time of the update, but it's likely that the updated report and reform function will deal with how player reports are handled.
