For players who might've forgotten that the tanky Noxian leader, Swain, was even an option in League of Legends, the Master Tactician may once again be viable soon now that he's been announced to be next in line for a Visual Game Update after Evelynn.

News of the upcoming update came from the most recent edition of the League of Legends Champion Roadmap where Riot Reav3 detailed some of the directions that are being taken with new and soon-to-be-updated champions. The Noxian ruler has been out of favor for some time now, earning the first spot on our recent list of champions that needed to be reworked soon, and his full-blown update that's coming will return a tanky AP laner to many players' champion pools.

"I'm happy to announce that our next big VGU after Evelynn will be none other than the leader of Noxus himself, Swain," said Reav3 in the recent announcement. "To start off, his visuals haven't held up very well over time. Swain is supposed to be the the all-powerful ruler of Noxus, and he doesn't really look the part at the moment. His theme is also a bit confused with his actual gameplay—he's a Master Tactician, yet he plays more like a Drain Tank/Battle Mage."

Reav3 also commented on the issues that Swain has as far as gameplay is concerned, saying that the feast or famine champion either becomes useless or unkillable depending on how his early game goes. His oppressive abilities don't allow a great deal of counterplay either, according to the Rioter, something that many recent changes have looked to fix – players will recall that Urgot's new Corrosive charge now has a bit of a delay before it explodes, an example of a counterplay change made to an otherwise frustrating ability to play against.

As far as what players can expect from the update, visuals will obviously be beefed up to match recent champs like Kayn and the updates for Galio and Urgot, but they're still looking to keep the ruler's main look intact. No details have been revealed on his abilities yet, but it's been stated in the announcement that they'll be rebuilding his entire kit from scratch.
