Steven Spielberg is going all out to assure that Ready Player One isn't your usual book-to-movie adaptation. In fact, it could very well surprise even those that are die-hard fans of Ernest Cline's best-selling novel.

Vanity Fair recently reported that, according to star Mark Rylance, it'll be filled with surprises.

During his stay in New York on Tuesday for the premiere of Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk, Rylance explained, "I'd say the film is very faithful to the book, but also an original story. There will always be something new with Steven.

"The book has a lot of puzzles and keys that the characters have to figure out, and Steven has introduced new puzzles and keys so that the people who read the book will still not know how it's going to work out. It's a marvelous story with twists and turns and many thrilling moments."

Rylance portrays the creator of the simulated world where the main hero dwells, but he passes on, leaving behind a lot of moolah for those willing to seek it out, in a mystery buried within references and nostalgia straight out of the 1980's.

Rylance also noted that creating a realistic future in the eyes of virtual reality was no easy task for Spielberg, but he was ready nevertheless. "It's a very, very complex film for Steven to make, and he was very tired and worried making it," he noted. "But, now he's seen it, and he's very excited. There is nothing to be worried about. It's going to be an extraordinary movie-going experience. I'm excited to see it when it opens, like everyone else!"

More than likely, we'll see a first look at the film sometime this weekend during San Diego Comic-Con, though it's unknown when the first trailer will officially drop. Of course, we'll keep you informed once it's available, so you can gaze in its glory and prepare for quite the adaptation of Ernest Cline's work. It's sure to be a strong adaptation – and, as you can tell, one filled with many surprises that fans won't get enough of.

Ready Player One hits theaters on March 30, 2018.
