Pokemon Go players found that Raid Bosses were a lot tougher to defeat yesterday. Niantic inadvertently buffed all of the game's Raid Bosses on Friday, making many of the high-level raids all but impossible to defeat for even small groups of players.

Throughout the day, players reported being unable to defeat low level Raid Bosses like Magmar or Electrabuzz on their own and that high level Raid Bosses like Lapras were all but impossible to defeat even with a large group of high level players.

After an afternoon of speculation as to whether Niantic had buffed the Raid Bosses without telling anyone, Niantic acknowledged that it had accidentally increased the difficulty of Raids and were working on a solution.

By Saturday morning, players reported that most Raids had returned to their normal level of difficulty.

The popular speculation is that Niantic accidentally "flipped the switch" on making Raids more difficult for today's Pokemon Go Fest. With 12,000+ players expected to be in attendance, Pokemon Go probably wants to encourage large groups of players to team up to beat the Raids that pop up during the event. It's also possible that Niantic applied buffs for the upcoming Legendary Raid Battles, since those raids are supposed to be even more difficult than Level 4 Raids.

Pokemon Go Fest runs all day today, so stay tuned to WWG for complete coverage of the big event.
