A couple of Australian League of Legends players are going to get the chance to make it to the big time through a new reality TV show that's starting soon that'll follow the journey of several aspiring esports contenders.

Called The Next Gamer the reality show pits many League players against each other as the best of the best make it through to later rounds until there are only so many left. After an application where applicants are asked to provide their background experience with the game, social media accounts, and other related information, 40 hopeful contestants will be chosen to compete against each other on the reality TV show. After that, the number of participants will eventually be narrowed down to 10 contenders who will be relocated to a gaming house in Sydney, Australia.

Up until the gamers join each other at the gaming house, the battles will be waged online against each other, so it seems that the typical reality TV formula that other shows follow will truly begin once the players are all grouped together. At the gaming house in Sydney, the players will have to participate in various daily challenges and tournaments that'll involve both mental tests, physical exertion, and overall teamwork that's invaluable for a League team.

These 10 players at the house will be whittled down to just five after a week at the house, and the final five team members will face off against a professional League team from the OPL region in a live finale. After that, a player will have the chance at the ultimate prize, $10,000 Australian dollars and the opportunity to sign with a professional team.

What little information has been provided about the show, seen above, uses the phrase "the gamer" when referring to who will be signed to a six-month contract, so it's uncertain what'll happen to the other four players who make it that far. Even if they don't get signed initially, it'll likely help put some competitors on other pro teams' radars to get a similar chance.

Applications for the TV show were briefly available on their website, but the information has since been removed. More updates will come as information about the show's contestants and broadcasting mediums are announced.
