Destiny 2 has no plans of ending simply because the upcoming sequel's story is completed, according to Bungie's community manager.

With games that are as involved as Destiny and other time-consuming games, it's become almost a staple addition for games to provide players with multiple ways to keep playing after the main narrative is completed. In an interview with Heavy, Bungie's David Dague, better known by the name DeeJ, Destiny 2 will expand even more after players finish the main story.

"Beyond the campaign, once the last cinematic plays out I think you're going to find a lot more variety," DeeJ said. "When you're in a destination, you open the map and the map will be littered with all these different things you can do. You can go on adventures that will tell you more about those destinations and the characters that you'll discover in those places. You're used to walking up to a character in The Tower or in a social space like The Reef or Felwinter Peak, but you'll actually walk up to the characters in destinations and interact with them."

Aside from just participating in post-game raids like most players would assume would be a standard, there will also be ample opportunities to learn more about your surrounding while completing missions and interacting with others.

"There are things you can do in the world to expand your understanding of those places or get rewards," the Bungie manager continued. "Public Events that you can see on the map you'll know when they begin, instead of people literally wandering around the world of Destiny hoping a Public Event would start. Or crowdsourcing together to figure out a map."

Behind all of these decisions that come into play after the main game is completed, DeeJ says that one of the driving factors that contributed the team's efforts is immersion for the players.

"And, what we want to do is immerse people's minds in the world of the game and not force them to leave to make their experience complete," DeeJ added.

Destiny 2 is scheduled for a Sept. 6 release on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 with an Oct. 24 launch for PC players. Don't forget that Amazon Prime members can save 20% on pre-order games.
