Pokemon Go is introducing a new kind of Raid Battle just for Mewtwo. The app announced on Monday that Mewtwo can only be battled in "Exclusive Raid Battles", a new feature in the game. Exclusive Raid Battles work similarly to existing Raid Battles, but players must be invited to participate in the battle. Unlike current Raids, which periodically pop up without warning, the new Exclusive Raid Battles will have ample warning to allow players time to coordinate with other trainers before battling Mewtwo.

In order to get invited to an Exclusive Raid Battle, players must have successfully completed a raid "recently" at the location where the Exclusive Raid Battle will take place. In order to improve your odds to get an invitation, Pokemon Go encouraged players to participate in Raids in as many different gyms as they can.

Although Mewtwo will be the first Exclusive Raid Boss, Pokemon Go confirmed that other "powerful Pokemon" may also start appearing at Exclusive Raids during the next few weeks. No specific date has been given as to when the Exclusive Raid Battles will start appearing in Pokemon Go, although we're expecting invitations to go start going out in the coming days.

Mewtwo made its first appearance at the Pokemon Go Stadium event in Japan on Monday, as a special Raid Boss. Any player who attended the event could battle Mewtwo, and players were guaranteed to catch the powerful Pokemon after catching it. As of right now, Mewtwo is the most powerful Raid Boss in the game, even though its stats were nerfed by 9% over the weekend.

We'll have more coverage of Mewtwo in Pokemon Go in the days to come. In the meantime, get out there and start battling in as many Raids as you can!
