League of Legends' Karma hasn't been forgotten about when it comes to larger changes in the future, but it appears that big buffs or reworks won't come for quite a while compared to other champions.

Riot Meddler discussed the mid lane/support hybrid mage during a recent Gameplay Thoughts post where a user asked what the deal was with Karma and her current state in the meta. Karma wasn't one of the main points of discussion in the Rioters' initial post, but Meddler did take the time to address Karma's situation.

The user in question referenced Karma being the worst mid laner in the game at the moment, according to statistics pulled from champ.gg, and wanted to know if she'd see any changes sometime after Worlds was done with.

"We'll need to do work on Karma sometime yeah, though I'd expect that's much more likely to be next year than this year," said Meddler, projecting far ahead for Karma's changes. "Even though it's only August pre-season's taking up enough time any updates not already underway probably won't happen this year unless they're pretty small. Karma needs larger work than that."

According to lolalytics that keeps track of champions' stats according to whatever patch that League of Legends is currently on, it does seem that Karma has a pretty low win rate, as if Karma players needed to be told that. With a 45 percent win rate as a support and a 46 percent win rate in the mid lane, Karma's definitely not in a fantastic spot at the moment.

While the mage can hold her own in the mid lane, she usually ends up better serving her team in a supporting role, regardless of what lane she takes to. Karma hasn't received a direct nerf since Patch 7.12 when she took a hit to her late-game shield power and her valuable AOE shielding ability, but with other items like Ancient Coin and Ardent Censor also receiving nerfs, Karma has been pushed down even lower beneath similar utility picks like Lulu and Janna.

With everything that's planned for the next couple of months including reworks, new champions, and a brand new Runes Reforged system, it seems that Karma mains will have to wait a bit longer for large changes, but they can still hope for some buffs in the meantime.
