The Xbox One X is making its way to retail this fall, and despite the fact that it will be Microsoft's most powerful console to date, it'll be a tough sell. As if the company's lack of AAA hits this holiday season wasn't enough of a problem, the system's $499 price has left a few gamers feeling winded in the wallet.

That said, one analyst believes it will perform quite well this holiday season. It won't lead the market, but it'll still find its place.

Michael Pachter, who's provided more than enough analysis pieces in the past to show his knowledge of the video game industry, recently responded to a question on Twitter, when a gaming fan asked if the Xbox One X would outsell the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro.

Pachter simply responded, "The Pro, yes, the PS4, no."

That seems like a pretty bold statement. The PlayStation 4 Pro has been doing only moderately well in sales, mainly due to the fact that not all games are supported by it yet, along with its higher price point. That said, some updates have been making things better, although some developers are still playing catch-up.

But Pachter is smart to say that the PlayStation 4 won't be beaten. That's still Sony's nest egg, after all, and this holiday season is expected to be a very busy one for the console, with big AAA titles like Gran Turismo Sport and Knack II, along with third party favorites that offer exclusives for the system, like the just-released Destiny II and the forthcoming Call of Duty: WWII. It'll likely have no trouble clearing a few more million units sold, especially if the rumored price drop is coming our way before the holiday season.

The Xbox One X does have power going for it, and a lot of first and third-party developers are making sure their games shine on the hardware, so those that do invest will get their money's worth. Still, we need more AAA titles and a possible price drop before we see it really see it make an impact on the market. Fingers crossed.
