Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy has become a real hit for Activision since its release on the PlayStation 4 earlier this summer. The game has been making the rounds with critics and fans alike, and has also led to speculation that it could arrive on other platforms this holiday season, including Xbox One and PC.

But even without those other versions being verified – at least, not yet – the PlayStation 4 seems to be doing quite well on its own. A Niko Partners analyst by the name of Daniel Ahmad recently checked over sales reports for the PlayStation 4, and came across an interesting stat for the retro collection – it's already sold more than 2.5 million units worldwide!

"Was just looking over some numbers and noticed that Crash Bandicoot PS4 has already sold over 2.5 million units worldwide...... wow!" he noted on Twitter.

Activision hasn't provided official sales numbers for the game just yet, but the company did note confidence in the collection, and felt it performed better than expected. It's also supported the game quite well, with the release of a previously unavailable level that promised to be a big challenge for players – and delivered on said promise.

This bodes well not only for future releases in the Crash Bandicoot lexicon – namely an HD port of CTR: Crash Team Racing and possible other games – but also for classic game compilations in general, as the Spyro the Dragon game collection has been heavily in demand following the release of N. Sane Trilogy. Activision hasn't officially announced anything just yet, but with PlayStation Experience coming around the corner in December, anything is possible.

For the time being, Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy packs a whole lot of gaming fun with its $40 price tag, with the first three games for PlayStation – Crash Bandicoot 1, 2 and 3 – being included in the package. And even though they're a bit on the tough side, they're a fun throwback to the classic PlayStation era. If only we could get more compilations like this…and, yes, Activision, that's a not-so-subtle hint. Give us a Spyro collection already!

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is available now for PlayStation 4.
