Dynasty Warriors 9 Huge Open-World Map Finally Revealed

Dynasty Warriors 9 is making a few key changes to the latest title from its previous entries in the franchise, the most notable being the massive open-world promised by the team. Seeing familiar faces in this expansive new environment is exciting but does beg the question: just how big is it?

The new world map has been revealed courtesy of Dualshockers from an early English build of the upcoming title. When producer Akihiro Suzuki was asked about clarification regarding the newly unveiled map, and how big it actually is in relation to gameplay, he didn't have a lot of details to offer; but instead did give a little insight to the size using real-time measurements.

According to Suzuki, to traverse the entire map on horseback would take players over three hours. Through exploration, players will see settlements and villages; all open for visitation in-game. There will also be changing environmentals throughout the game's progression, including snowy mountains, rivers, open plains, and more.

The video at the bottom is a little rough, but does show the English build early on and how the overall map should look. It is important to note that it is possible that when the title finally releases, that the map may look different given that this was developed in very early stages of the Dynasty Warriors 9 creation process.

As the main site for the upcoming title explains:

"For the first time in the series, the expansive land of China is shown on a single map with the introduction of an open-world format for diverse progression through the game. The 'one vs. thousands' exhilarating action of the Warriors series and the beloved characters from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms tale are carried over, but the freedom through an open-world stage provides a brand new Warriors experience."

Dynasty Warriors 9 will be available for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC for an early 2018 release date. For those playing in Japan, the next phase in the franchise will remain a PlayStation 4 exclusive, unfortunately.
