Data East…remember them? They were one of the premiere arcade companies in the 1980's, churning out a number of classics like Bad Dudes, Karate Champ, Kung Fu Master, Burgertime and countless others.

That said, we haven't seen too many of their games this generation. We did get Data East Arcade Classics on the Wii many years ago, and Express Raider, Burnin' Rubber and Lock 'n Chase on the PlayStation 3 and PS Vita, but…that's really about it.

However, the team at G-Mode wants to fix that, and have announced a new Data East Revival Project, in which it hopes to team up with a publisher (or publishers, even) to bring back a number of Data East classics for a new audience to enjoy. And, honestly, they're just sitting on a gold mine, waiting for the right partner to come along.

"Are you looking for Data East license?" the company asks on its main page. "Here is the answer. G-MODE owns over 100 titles of DECO (Data East franchises)."

The company lists a number of social pages and contact areas to get a hold of them, but, more importantly, it's listed a number of games that it has its hands on. While there are some titles missing, like Robocop (due to licensing), Atomic Runner Chelnov and Karnov, there are more than enough licenses for publishers to pick up on. Here's a quick rundown:

  • Bad Dudes vs. DragonNinja
  • BreakThru
  • Bloody Wolf
  • BurgerTime
  • BurgerTime Deluxe
  • Burnin' Rubber
  • Congo's Caper
  • Crude Buster (Two Crude Dudes)
  • Dark Lord
  • Express Raider
  • Fighter's History
  • Fighter's History Dynamite
  • Heavy Barrel
  • Joe & Mac: Caveman Ninja
  • Joe & Mac Returns
  • Joe & Mac 2: Lost In the Tropics
  • Karate Champ
  • Lock 'n Chase
  • Midnight Resistance
  • Side Pocket
  • Super BurgerTime

There are plenty more titles on the company's home page, but, seriously, what we wouldn't give for someone to produce a solid Joe & Mac collection, with a little Bad Dudes on the side. We know for sure that Hamster, the team behind the Neo-Geo and Taito re-releases, would probably love to get their hands on some of these franchises.

Again, you can reach G-MODE on their home page, so hopefully they'll find the right partner and give us what we want – an opportunity to save the president (from the 80's, mind you) and go get a burger! Ha Ha Ha!
