Game Freak will be shutting down the Pokemon Global Link system for a week to prepare for the release of Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.

Pokemon Global Link is a competitive online hub in which trainers can battle and interact with each other. Players register for the Global Link on its website, and then can participate in special Rated Battles and Online Competitions.

Beginning on November 10th, Game Freak will shut down Pokemon Global Link for a week to update the system for Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. This means that players won't be able to participate in Rating Battles or Online Competitions or "rent" pre-created Pokemon teams from the QR Rental program.

However, Game Freak is offering a consolation prize for players inconvenienced by the Global Link shutdown. Players can register their copies of Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon to the Pokemon Global Link system and receive a special gift once the system comes back online.

Of course, one of the reasons that Pokemon Global Link is getting updated is because Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon is adding a ton of new features and several new Pokemon. With three new Ultra Beasts on the way and several new Z-Moves, the Global Link needs updated to handle all of the new Pokemon madness coming next month.

We'll see what other surprises are in store for Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon when it comes out on November 17th.
