A lot of players are getting down on some of the hilarious humor that South Park: The Fractured But Whole brings to the table. In the world of Twitch streams and Let's Plays, of course gamers are excited to get their own gameplay contributions out there for their followers to enjoy. YouTube, however, is not overtly fond of the risque nature of some of the jokes found in the sequel, and many YouTubers are finding their videos demonetized for that very reason.

Being incredibly true to the show, some of the jokes and in-game content has of course stirred up controversy - that's the point of the franchise, after all. But it looks like YouTube isn't too terribly comfortable with where a lot of it leads. In fact, many of the title's events throughout the story's progression directly violates many of the YouTube advertising guidelines, making these videos prime candidates for demonetization.

It was first brought to light by one YouTuber, Haedox, when he uploaded his video talking about the game's overall infrastructure and where exactly it fits into the RPG genre. Shortly after uploading his take on the South Park games, Haedox realised that his content was immediately flagged down by the YouTube polices and was immediately demonetized:

In the video above, Haedox added this to the comment section once he noticed the change:

"So, the video got demonetized and a copyright claim when I showed some donguses and the footage from the show. Figured that it would be better to fox the footage or just censor everything. I also fixed the title since I couldn't decide on one I liked haha. It sucks I had to take it down and then reupload but hey, if you wanna watch again, yeah, it's here so, uh, be SURE TO LIKE, COMMENT, SUBSCRIBE.. and check your prostate. Have a great day."

Haedox wasn't the only one, many other YouTubers have been sharing that their videos have also been hit with this policy. For those that may not be familiar with some of YouTube's advertising standards, this is the part that this game violates:

"Video content that contains frequent uses of strong profanity or vulgarity throughout the video may not be eligible for advertising. Occasional use of profanity won't necessarily result in your video being ineligible for advertising, but context matters."

The choice of demonetization seems oddly selective, however. There are still videos that are almost exactly the same that remain monetized. Whether that is deliberate or if the process just takes more time than many realise, we aren't sure. We did reach out to YouTube for a statement and will update the story accordingly.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole is available now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
