Final Fantasy 14 Seasonal Update Has Flying Bears and Holiday Gear

A new seasonal celebration is coming to Final Fantasy 14 that includes special holiday content as well as an airborne bear mount.

The prospect of getting to ride a flying bear in a Santa hat should really be enough persuasion to get back into the game if you've been taking a break, but if it's not, the Starlight Celebration has other incentives to look forward to as well. An event page for the Starlight Celebration provided a brief summary of what the entails when it's live from Dec. 15-31

"Amh Garanjy is recruiting adventurers at Mih Khetto's Amphitheatre to help with the festivities. However, it seems trouble is afoot in Bentbranch Meadows. Will you volunteer to save the Starlight Celebration?"

You'll have to be level 15 in order to participate, but if you meet those requirements, you'll be able to complete the seasonal quests and earn some corresponding loot. Several new items and decorations are available to add to your collection as well.

Starlight Bear Horn

• A decorated horn used to summon a bear specially trained for the Starlight Celebration.

Starlight Stew Set

• A hearty meat and vegetable soup brewed by families across the realm every Starlight Celebration.
• Cannot be retrieved once used.
• Can be used up to 10 times.
• Meal benefits when used:
  • Determination Bonus: +4% (Max 7)
  • VIT Bonus: +4% (Max 8)
  • Gear Durability Bonus: +3
  • EXP Bonus: +3%
  • Duration: 30m
  • (Duration can be extended to 60m by consuming multiple servings)

Starlight Log Set

• Fortunately, this festive log-shaped cake tastes nothing like its appearance would suggest.
• Cannot be retrieved once used.
• Can be used up to 10 times.
• Meal benefits when used:
  • Piety Bonus: +4% (Max 7)
  • VIT Bonus: +4% (Max 8)
  • Gear Durability Bonus: +3
  • EXP Bonus: +3%
  • Duration: 30m
  • (Duration can be extended to 60m by consuming multiple servings)

• A tiny evergreen used to decorate homes during the Starlight Celebration.

• A hand-painted notice advertising this year's Starlight Celebration.

But back to the most important thing here, that flying bear. The ursine mount can be called forth by using the Starlight Bear Horn, naturally. It can fly around and toss presents to create glitter-filled explosions as shown in the game's Japanese blog site.

The event begins soon on Dec. 15, so make sure you get everything accomplished during the Starlight Celebration event before it ends on Dec. 31.
