With the release of Daredevil's second season, we have gotten a steady stream of news regarding Marvel's other Netflix forays in the forms of Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones, and the Defenders wherein they all team up. Even with all this, audiences are still waiting with baited breath to see when or if a third season for Daredevil will be announced. There is no information currently about season three; however, Comicbook.com fan Charlie Kells believes that a certain story arc has already been hinted in the most recent episode: Frank Miller's "Born Again". One of the harshest, yet well-known Daredevil stories of all time, "Born Again" sees Daredevil on a crash course with Wilson Fisk as Matt Murdock's life falls apart.

For those not in the know, "Born Again" was a series of comic book issues of Daredevil created in 1986 that followed Matt Murdock's identity being discovered by the Kingpin. Fisk learned of about Murdock's secret from Karen Page, who had tried to become an actress in Hollywood only to fall on hard times and make pornographic films in Mexico. Obviously, it's a really dark story and I don't think that it's going to happen exactly the same way in the Netflix series. After learning that Daredevil and Matt Murdock are one in the same, Fisk devotes all his time and resources into attempting to destroy his life. Kingpin freezes Matt's assets through the IRS, blows up his apartment and sends a steady stream of goons his way. Constantly under siege, and now homeless, Matt wanders the streets of New York City, slowly losing his mind as the attacks from Fisk grow worse.

Wanting Daredevil gone once and for all, Kingpin employs the services of the psychotic super soldier, Nuke, in order to finish Murdock off. Matt and Nuke fight through Hell's Kitchen, and with the assassin beaten, he takes his anger out on NYC, eventually dragging into the battle none other than Captain America. Cap manages to defeat Nuke and the Kingpin is eventually brought once again to justice, his reputation shattered but the knowledge of Daredevil's secret identity still fresh in his mind. Fisk swears revenge as Matt, along with Karen, begins the long process of rebuilding his life.

There are a lot of key points in Daredevil's second season that point to this storyline being employed in the third. First and foremost, Karen Page is told Matt's identity as Daredevil by Murdock himself in the season finale of Daredevil's second season. Following a confrontation between Matt and Wilson Fisk in prison in an earlier episode, Kingpin has begun to suspect something is fishy with the blind attorney after swearing revenge against him for locking him up. The seeds have been planted for Kingpin to learn Murdock's secret identity here and bring that to fruition in season three. Finally, Nuke was introduced in Jessica Jones' first season as the character Will Simpson, eventually losing his mind thanks to the pills he was fed as part of the Super Soldier program he was a part of. All the elements are there for the taking in setting up this return showdown between Daredevil and the Kingpin.

Certainly, I think that there will be other elements involved here. Elektra will be resurrected for sure following her untimely death at the hands of the Hand. Jon Bernthal's Punisher will most likely make a return in some shape or form considering his popularity. Finally, fans have been chomping at the bit for Daredevil's big nemesis, Bullseye, to hit the scene so I would imagine this would also be in the cards. Ultimately, I think these parts of the storyline could be added into the "Born Again" arc for season three, creating a brand new entity.
