Funko, Marvel, And USO Reveal Final Lineup For Operation ReDorbz Auction
, which is free and open to the public starting at 10 am on July 21st.The Dorbz will be featured [...]
Not too long ago Funko, Marvel, and the United Service Organization (USO) joined up for a special celebration of Captain America's 75th Anniversary, which they called Operation: ReDorbz.
The idea was to send blank 18-inch Jumbo Captain America Dorbz to over 300 artists from Marvel, Disney, and Funko. These artists were tasked with coming up with a unique spin for the giant-sized Dorbz figure, and the finalists would be picked to take their spot in a special eBay charity auction that goes to help the USO, a nonprofit that supports soldiers in the military.
If you happen to be attending San Diego Comic-Con, you'll be able to see 75 of these original creations in person at the Funko offices in San Diego (448 W. Market Street), which is free and open to the public starting at 10 am on July 21st.
The Dorbz will be featured in a 1940's themed gallery later in the day at 4pm as well, which will be a private event. While the gallery will only have 75 of the choices, an additional 200 or so will be available in the actual auction.
Funko received plenty of submissions, but the final list includes some fantastic custom creations, including Pinata Cap, The Cheshire Cat, Captain America Luchador, Zootopia's Flash, Groot, Jack Kirby Cap, Captain America Gladiator, Snow White Cap, Captain America Borg, and more. You can see the first batch of available customs in the gallery.
Make sure to bookmark the auction page so you don't miss out on grabbing yourself a custom Dorbz and helping a great cause out at the same time. The auction starts at 4pm sharp on July 21st.
