Heading into Thor: Ragnarok, Chris Hemsworth was eager to find a way to reinvent the not-so-brotherly relationship between Thor and Loki. In doing so, it sounds like his Thor character has thrown in the towel on dealing with his brother.
During a visit to the Australian set of Thor: Ragnarok, ComicBook.com heard from Hemsworth about the new approach to the relationship and how important it was keep the dynamic fresh.
"Without giving too much away, it was one thing I said because I don't wanna repeat that relationship either," Hemsworth said. "And I think, you know, Tom [Hiddleston] felt the same. All of us were like, 'What can we do again here?'"
By comparison to the first film, Thor will be much less trusting of Loki and his always-scheming nature.
"You know, in the first films, a lot of the time you're seeing Thor kinda going, "Come back Loki!' and 'Da-da- da-da,'" Hemsworth said. "And, you know, I think there's a feeling from Thor now that's just like, 'You know what kid? Do what you want. You can't hurt for trying. You're a screw up, so whatever. Do your thing.' So, there's a bit of that which is fun, but also something we haven't sort of played with as much."
Based on the trailers for Thor: Ragnarok which surfaced months after Comicbook.com's time on the movie's set, it appears tough love might be the most effective approach. By the end of the film, Thor and his brother Loki will have teamed up to take on the threat of Hela. After all, though, she was only able to reach and wreak havoc on Asgard because of Loki's actions, anyway.
Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters on November 4, 2017.
