Marvel Studios Head Teases More 'Avengers' Films In Space

The Avengers have been quite busy defending Earth over the last few years, but their next adventures might leave the Earth far behind.

That is if they survive their collision with Thanos. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige wasn't about to confirm whether or not they do in fact survive that confrontation, but he did tease a possible path for the ones who do at the CCXP Marvel panel (via Omelete).

When asked if the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe was in space, Feige seemed to be pretty certain it will happen, with one big caveat. "If the Avengers survive, we will see more films with them in space," Feige said. "I love and would like to see more films in space."

Avengers: Infinity War will bring the Marvel Cinematic Universe together in an unprecedented way, and that opens up a myriad of possibilities going forward. After this film, other heroes will know what's going on in the cosmos as well as the world of magic, not to mention the various groups here on Earth, including the high tech nation of Wakanda.

There will always be things to take care of on Earth of course, but that doesn't mean you can't take things into the cosmos for the big tentpole films, and Avengers certainly qualifies as that. There are plenty of threats unexplored in that realm of the Marvel Universe, making it a perfect way to liven things up for future films.

That would also pave the way for even more cosmic heroes, like Nova, Darkhawk, Adam Warlock, and more. That will increase tenfold if the Disney and 20th Century Fox deal goes through, as then Marvel Studios would gain access to Fantastic Four properties like Galactus, Silver Surfer, Annihilus, and the negative zone.

It would also gain access to the X-Men side of the cosmic coin, which includes an entire empire (the Shi'ar), as well as the Starjammers and the Phoenix force.

Even without those though, a cosmic future would still look awfully bright, it just remains to be seen who will be alive to see it.

Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on May 4, 2018.
