DC Films Head Can't Confirm Wonder Woman Sequel Plans

There's not much that DC Comics' Wonder Woman and Marvel's Hulk have in common. One is an Amazon princess who is as graceful as she is deadly while the other is a rampaging monster, like pure rage given flesh. However, it seems they may soon share one more thing in common, and that's only having one solo movie in their respective cinematic universes.
The upcoming Wonder Woman movie will be Princess Diana's (Gal Gadot) first live-action film adventure. Rather than being set in the present day of the DC Extended Universe, the film flashes back to World War I to tell Wonder Woman's origin story.
Many fans have assumed that more Wonder Woman movies will follow that will take place after the events Justice League, similar to how Marvel Studios told Captain America's World War II origin, then featured him in The Avengers, and then followed his further adventures through the present day.
It turns out that may not be the case. During the Warner Bros. panel at WonderCon on Saturday, DC Films head and Wonder Woman screenwriter Geoff Johns was asked about possible sequels to Wonder Woman. Johns simply replied, "I can't confirm that."
It isn't unusual for studio heads to avoid being specific about future film plans. That's understandable considering how these plans are often in a constant state of flux, which is why studios tend to roll them out to the public slowly and with carefully planned announcements.

However, those executives usually try to at least put a positive spin on things by encouraging fans to be on alert for future announcements, or by reminding those fans that anything is possible. This is why Johns' reply, which is pretty neutral, seems disconcerting by comparison.
Still, Warner Bros. is likely waiting to see how well the first Wonder Woman does before confirming any plans for a sequel. Considering how much turnover there's been with The Batman, it is probably wise for the studio to take things at its own pace.
